SINGAPOREAN SINGER-SONGWRITER NATHAN HARTONO PENS AN ODE TO LOVE IN HIS LATEST SINGLE “THE DIFFERENCE”

Written by Nathan Hartono and produced by Singaporean producer MYRNE who had previously worked with Nathan on the single “I’m Fine," "The Difference" is a piano-driven love story based on Nathan's own life experience.

Says Nathan, “It’s a love song for the people who make you feel loved. You really feel the difference when that someone is around, whether in subtle or obvious ways.

As the duo brought back their synergy for this single, Nathan recounts working with MYRNE for the second time as, “A lot more familiar. It felt like playing on an expanded playground now that we got all the first time jitters out the way.”

With a soft spot for this single, Nathan actively took the helm and drove the creative direction of the track. Besides designing the cover artwork and conceptualizing the art direction of the publicity photos taken by Singaporean photographer Jayden Tan, Nathan also produced and directed the lyric video for the single. Describing the thematic backdrop of “The Difference” as seeing love through rose-tinted glasses, he depicts the lyric video as, “Both the light and dark side of that haze you find yourself in.”

“The Difference” continues the musical narrative sets forth by the single “I’m Fine” (released in February earlier this year) and will cumulate into a 4-track EP titled Edge of Days this coming September 3, 2021. With a brand-new musical journey that showcases his vulnerability and versatility as an artist, Nathan also teases on an upcoming single, “‘The Difference' is a darker love song that complements a much brighter one in the next release! I want to try showing both sides of that same coin. I can’t wait for everyone to listen to the EP in its entirety this September!”
